Recap: The Childs4Lacrosse D3 Prospect Day

In 2017, The Prospect Camp model held by the colleges around the country is continuing to grow as a excellent way to be recruited.

The showcases and recruiting tournaments aren’t just the only way to get exposure for your son or daughter.

Colleges are now inviting players, they may be interested in, to their campuses for a day or during a weekend event to show of their skills.

The payments for the Prospect Days go to either the lacrosse programs budget or a local charity in the community.

That is what York College of Pennsylvania Head Coach Brandon Childs has done with the D3 Prospect Day which was held this past Sunday.

Childs has created the Childs4Lacrosse Foundation which helps grow the game at the youth level in York (Pa.).

“It’s our way of teaching the game. We wanted to be a home destination for York County youth lacrosse and a provide tournaments during the summer,” said Childs on what Childs4Lacrosse offers to the area.

On Sunday, Childs4Lacrosse held the Division III Prospect Day at the York men’s lacrosse field. And their was a recruiting seminar and lunch in the athletic center.

York College Lacrosse put together a staff consisting of D3 coaches from all over the country.

The staff consisted coaches from the following programs:

York, Lynchburg, Gettysburg, St. Mary’s, Scranton, Eastern, Mary Washington, Elizabethtown, Frostburg, and Delaware Valley, Wesley, and Harford Community College.

If you are going to do a prospect day, why not go to an event that features different programs that fit what you are looking for in a school and a lacrosse program.

York College is located just 1 hour north of Baltimore and 1 1/2 hours west of Philadelphia. Making York, PA. the perfect host for a D3 Prospect Day.

The D3 Prospect Day had team instruction, positional work, and games. It presents a great opportunity to work with the coaches from each school, as well as showcase. abilities in the live game setting.

A really great part of the event is that 10% of player registration fees and 10% of every paid coaches stipend went to Cure International.

Cure International serves children who, because of their disabilities, are often the very last: The last to be included. The last to be protected from abuse. The last to be afforded dignity. And, sometimes, even the last to be given food in their own homes.

The goal for this event is to provide at least 1 surgery for a child in need. The amount of money Cure publishes online equals what we need to raise in the US to help support each procedure. Based on the average need across Cure’s network, that amount is $1,000 for each orthopedic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and neurosurgery.

It was a fantastic event, which is designed to be benefit everyone involved. The players and their parents left feeling like they got something out of a lacrosse recruiting event as well has doing a good deed.

Several of the players expressed that they were excited about the variety of coaches and being able to interact with them in a practice setting.
